Automation Examples Part 1
When we are talking about business process automation, it begs one question.
And it’s something that people often ask.
What exactly can be automated?
What kind of activities are we talking about here?
To clear this up, we will be starting a new category within our blog, under "automation examples".
We understand that everyone’s work processes and tasks may be different, but what we will showing you will give you a hint on what WinAutomation and Business Process Automation can do for you. And all the possibilities.
Automation itself is a very big field. As far as we are concerned, we focus only on the domain of computer/window workflow and tasks.
So if you are looking to automate a task, it must first fulfil 2 basic conditions:
A. It MUST be computer (windows) based. Meaning work that is done on a computer. (We don’t automate work done on Mac though)
B. There must be a well defined workflow/structure for each task. That is to say, we must know who is the first step of the task, and the next and the next…and so on…
We must also know what are the conditions, variables or triggers involved, if any.
If you are able to write and describe the workflow down on paper or draw out a flowchart diagram, that means there is a semblance of a structured workflow in place. Which makes it possible for automation.
Okay with that out of the way, here are some most commonly automated task examples on a very generic level:
- Research
- Data processing and management
- File/folders management
- Online marketing
- Print/Fax job
- Excel and Database management
- Running of program and applications
- Order and fulfillment
- Purchasing/Invoicing
- Backups
- Computer virus scan/clean up/defragging
We will stop here for now. You can be sure we will be back with a lot more specific examples of automation.
